Anyone know of any good areas nearby to collect slate? I could use a bunch more, if I find a good site I'm not opposed to collecting extra for anyone else who wants some.

I have not seen any naturally occuring slate or shale in Wisconsin in my travels.

I know there are some in Northern Wisconsin, I stumbled upon them in my college days, but was hoping there would be some in the southern half of the state.

I got a bunch of slate down in indiana one time. But if its not submerged it crumbles. Apparently they have slate bottom lakes.

I have thick stuff from Madison Block and Stone. I'd be willing to give you some. It is about 1" thick, however.
