There is something interesting growing on some macro algae. it looks like some kind of polyp. unknown pollup.jpg
they close like a polyp when disturbed. There is a long web of them spread out around the algae. I think it came from this rock. Yellow polup.jpg
Down near the bottom there are similar looking purple things and this rock was positioned so it was touching that algae previously. Anyone know what it is?

Remove them asap or kalk them to death. This is why I don't give out rock's or macro algae anymore. It is a pest polyp that you want to control.

could be a hydroid as well. most likely a pest of some sort. time will tell if it will overrun the tank.

We haven them also - in a big colony. I can see how they could overrun a tank, but we keep ours corralled in their designated area and they just sit there and look neat.
